InCites
InCites is a research evaluation tool developed by Clarivate Analytics, based on the aggregation and analysis of citation data from the Web of Science (SCI-E/SSCI/A&HCI). It integrates various metrics and global benchmark data across disciplines over the past 30 years. InCites allows for the selection of appropriate time frames for reports according to specific needs. The data in InCites is derived from Web of Science citation data, and users can directly link to detailed information on authors or papers of interest found within InCites. The pre-set data module (Global Comparisons) is updated annually. Through InCites, it is possible to track an institution's research output and impact in real-time; compare the research performance of the institution with other institutions, as well as with global and disciplinary averages; identify researchers within the institution who have academic influence and development potential; and monitor the institution's research collaboration activities to seek potential research collaboration opportunities.
EndNote
ENDNOTE® reference management software, developed by Clarivate, is a flagship reference management system with a history spanning over twenty years. The latest version is version 20 (the twentieth edition), while the most recent version for macOS installation is X9. The standalone version of ENDNOTE® integrates searching, analyzing, managing, writing, and submitting into a seamless workflow, making it an essential tool for research, management, writing, and publishing.
With the standalone version of ENDNOTE®, researchers can:
- Easily access scientific literature and build a personal literature database;
- Effectively manage and analyze scientific literature to inspire research ideas;
- Use journal submission templates when writing papers to improve writing efficiency;
- Cite references while writing and adjust reference formats with one click;
- Seamlessly integrate across platforms, synchronize literature, and access scientific information anytime, anywhere.
NoteExpress
NoteExpress is a popular reference management software tool designed to assist researchers in efficiently utilizing electronic resources throughout the entire research process. Its core functions include retrieving and managing literature abstracts and full texts. When writing academic papers, theses, monographs, or reports, it allows for the convenient addition of in-text citations at specified locations within the main text. Subsequently, it automatically generates reference indexes according to the formatting requirements of different journals and thesis guidelines.
The core functions are as follows:
- Retrieval: Supports hundreds of global library catalogs and electronic databases, such as Wanfang, VIP, CNKI, Elsevier ScienceDirect, ACS, OCLC, WOS, Ei, and the Library of Congress. One-time retrieval, permanent storage.
- Management: Capable of categorizing and managing millions of electronic literature records and full texts. The unique virtual folder feature is particularly suited for interdisciplinary modern research.
- Analysis: Provides various statistical analyses of retrieval results, enabling researchers to quickly identify key experts, research institutions, and research hotspots in a specific field.
- Discovery: The note-taking feature associated with the literature allows for recording thoughts while reading, making it convenient for future reference and citation. Retrieval results can be saved long-term, and relevant literature that meets specific criteria is automatically pushed, greatly facilitating the long-term tracking of research trends in a particular field.
- Writing: Supports Word and LaTeX, allowing for the citation of saved literature records during paper writing and automatically generating compliant reference indexes. The software includes format definitions for 3,000 domestic and international journals and dissertations. The pioneering multi-language template feature can automatically output differentiated references based on the language of the cited literature.
ESI
Essential Science Indicators (ESI) is an analytical database established by Thomson Scientific Information Group based on the collection and analysis of academic literature and their cited references included in the Web of Science (SCIE/SSCI). It exclusively analyzes all cited documents. Through Essential Science Indicators, researchers can systematically and purposefully analyze international scientific literature to understand the development and impact of renowned scientists, research institutions (or universities), countries (or regions), and academic journals in a particular field. Additionally, research management personnel can use this resource to find foundational data that influences decision-making analysis.
In the ESI data, "Highly cited papers" are based on rolling statistics from the past ten years, while "hot papers" are based on rolling statistics from the past two years. The data is updated periodically.
JCR
The Journal Citation Reports (JCR) includes the JCR Web Science Edition and the JCR Web Social Science Edition, utilizing citation analysis methods and various quantitative indicators. The JCR systematically analyzes the relative importance of academic journals within the fields of natural sciences and social sciences. Connected with the Web of Science, JCR on Web assists researchers in quickly understanding the relative impact of scientific research, providing a certain degree of quantitative basis for evaluating research performance.
